THE BIRTH OF NIGHT OWL LANDING

Night Owl Cycling LLC was formed with the state in 2015 but for all practical purposes we didn't start operating the bike shop and serving customers until the beginning of 2016. At that point, we were operating out of our small shop at our Night Owl Avenue house in Kingston. In August of 2016, we purchased 122.6 acres of forestry land, previously owned by Pope and Talbot lumber company. Conveniently, it was a quarter of a mile away. We immediately began to build trails as we anxiously awaited approval of our house and shop permits so we could start building. In 2019 we sold our Night Owl Avenue house and moved into a trailer on our new property, which we decided to name Night Owl Landing.

By the end of 2020, we finished building our home and were happily moving out of the trailer. The shop has taken a bit longer to finish and progress has come in waves. At the end of 2022, we finished electrical, plumbing, heating and air conditioning and in addition to having a comfortable place for Kelly to work on bikes, we opened the Silver Creek Lounge which is located on the south end of the first floor of the shop.

Summer of 2023, we officially became a resort and started offering sleeping accommodations. The Forest Dome and the Clover Meadow tent camping sites were opened in addition to RV / Van spots off our driveway. By the summer of 2024 we knew we had to make a change to our website and organization of our business. We filed a DBA (doing business as) with the State of WA for "Night Owl Landing" and the name serves as the overall umbrella to our company. At this point, we created an entirely new website with a new platform and built in tools that could help us move into the areas we'd been desiring for so long (blogs, newsletters, online sales, calendars, events).

October of 2024 we welcomed our first wedding at the property (Heidi's son Simon and new DIL Sierra) and in March 2025 we finished the 2nd story of the shop which holds our office and Woodland Bunkhouse.

We are excited to continue expanding, running our business, fixing bikes, and helping people embrace the peace of the forest.
